⁃ Signal Mountain, TN ⁃
Arellano Construction builds custom decks, covered porches, pergolas, and pool decks for homeowners on Signal Mountain. We're based in Chattanooga, about twenty minutes down the mountain, and we've been building outdoor living spaces across Hamilton County for more than ten years.
Signal Mountain is not flat-lot construction. Between the grade changes, the rock, the tree cover, and the brow lots that everyone wants to build toward, a deck up here asks more of the structure underneath it than the same deck would in a subdivision down in the valley. That's the work we do, and it's why homeowners on the mountain call a builder who knows the terrain instead of the cheapest bid on a list.
Every service we offer in Chattanooga, we build here.
⁃ Building in Signal Mountain ⁃
Four things come up on nearly every project we quote up here.
A lot that drops away behind the house means taller posts, deeper footings, and lateral bracing that a flat-lot deck never needs. Shallow soil over rock changes how footings get set. We work the structure out before the design is finalized, not after the crew is on site.
If your lot looks out over the valley, the railing decides whether you actually see it. Cable rail and glass panel systems keep the view open where a standard picket rail would cut it into strips. Where the deck sits matters too - a few feet of placement changes what you look at.
Mature tree cover keeps decks damp longer after rain, and wood under constant shade grows mildew and cups faster than the same board in full sun. It's the single biggest reason we steer mountain homeowners toward composite.
Narrow drives, steep approaches, and tight side yards affect how material gets to the back of the house. We walk the access route during the estimate so the number we give you accounts for it instead of surfacing as a change order later.
⁃ Our Most Requested Build ⁃
Most of what we build now is composite, and on the mountain the case for it is stronger than it is down in the valley. Composite boards don't absorb water, so the shade and moisture that shortens the life of a wood deck up here doesn't do the same thing to composite. No sanding, no staining every couple of seasons, no splinters underfoot.
We build primarily with Trex and TimberTech. Both offer a range of colors and grain patterns, and both carry long manufacturer warranties. Which one fits your project depends on the look you're after and where the deck sits — we'll bring samples to the estimate so you're choosing off real boards in your own light, not off a screen.

Signal Mountain is about twenty minutes from our shop in Chattanooga, and we're out there regularly. We also build throughout the surrounding communities:
We handle the permitting and inspections your project requires, and if your neighborhood has an architectural review process, we'll put together the drawings and material specs the committee asks for. You shouldn't have to chase paperwork for a deck.
